Derby is Just Around the Bend

Friday, April 8th, 2011

This Saturday marks the official kick-off of the Derby Festival with Thunder Over Louisville! Hundreds of thousands of people will gather long the Ohio River, in both Louisville and Southern Indiana, to watch one of the world’s largest airshows and fireworks presentations.

If you’re looking for someone to guide you through the Derby events and Louisville attractions, you’ve come to the right spot. Not only is this the right spot, this is one of the best times to discover things to do in Louisville. Over the next two weeks, Louisville is going to shine with events, parties, contests, shows, and all things “Derby” — culminating in the running of the Kentucky Derby.

The Derby Festival is two weeks of events, competition, parties, and fun.  There is (as mentioned) Thunder Over Louisville, the nation’s largest fireworks presentation, the Pegasus Parade, the Great Steamboat Race, and of course, the “fastest two minutes in sports.”

Whether you’re planning a trip to Louisville for the Derby, or just wanting to see the sights and sounds that make this city so special, we’ve put together some great tours to help introduce you to all the things to do in Louisville.

Experience the Best of the Bluegrass this Derby Season

Friday, April 1st, 2011

We’ve put together a series of Kentucky-focused fun tours for the upcoming Derby season. This is a time of year that the world’s eyes begin to focus on Kentucky in anticipation of the Run for the Roses on the first Saturday in May. For us at Mint Julep Tours, our focus turns to entertaining visitors through tours that highlight some of the sights, sounds, and tastes that can only be found here. This year, we’re offering three special Derby week tours that capture all of the greatness of our commonwealth.

Horse Country Tours

A visit to the Bluegrass state would not be complete without getting up close to past and future Derby stars and studs. Take in the tradition of Kentucky’s horse racing industry with a walking tour of the grounds at Keeneland Racetrack and travel with us to a world-renowned thorougbred farm for a tour. Enjoy lunch at a local eatery in-between the destinations.

Best of Kentucky Tour

Enjoy the best of what Kentucky is known for–horses and bourbon. The day will include a tour of a premier thoroughbred farm as well as a visit to an historic bourbon distillery for a tour and tasting with a stop for lunch along the way.

Bourbon Trail Tour

Join us on a journey on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Travel through Bluegrass countryside as you tour two premier distilleries, including a tasting at each. Enjoy a stop for lunch at a local eatery in-between stops.
