Ready or not, the Kentucky Derby is coming at us full steam ahead and today marks the 100 day countdown to the races!
For many people, attending the Kentucky Derby is a Bucket List goal. But other than seeing “the most exciting two minutes in sports”, a visit to Louisville would not be complete without exploring our premier bourbon distilleries and thoroughbred horse farms. This once-in-a lifetime weekend getaway to the “bourbon belt” in Kentucky includes four distillery tours, a three night discounted stay in a five star hotel and first class transportation (plus lunch and special gifts). But the real bonus is an exclusive tour and tasting with Wild Turkey’s Master Distiller, Jimmy Russell!
This extravaganza includes accommodations at 21C Museum Hotel, A 90-room boutique hotel is nestled in historic downtown Louisville, and is a contemporary art museum, award-winning restaurant and cultural civic center. It has been voted the “Best Hotel in the South” in 2012. The two full day bourbon distillery tours will visit Maker’s Mark, Jim Beam, Buffalo Trace and features a rare and personal tour with Wild Turkey’s legendary master distiller Jimmy Russell. Sure those things are practical and I know he’ll use them, but it’s hard to watch him open his gift and feign enthusiasm, which leads immediately to me thinking to myself how I wish I had given him something else. We’ve put together a series of Kentucky-focused fun tours for the upcoming Derby season. This is a time of year that the world’s eyes begin to focus on Kentucky in anticipation of the Run for the Roses on the first Saturday in May. For us at Mint Julep Tours, our focus turns to entertaining visitors through tours that highlight some of the sights, sounds, and tastes that can only be found here. This year, we’re offering three special Derby week tours that capture all of the greatness of our commonwealth.
Horse Country Tours
A visit to the Bluegrass state would not be complete without getting up close to past and future Derby stars and studs. Take in the tradition of Kentucky’s horse racing industry with a walking tour of the grounds at Keeneland Racetrack and travel with us to a world-renowned thorougbred farm for a tour. Enjoy lunch at a local eatery in-between the destinations.

Enjoy the best of what Kentucky is known for–horses and bourbon. The day will include a tour of a premier thoroughbred farm as well as a visit to an historic bourbon distillery for a tour and tasting with a stop for lunch along the way.
