7 Bourbon Distilleries to Tour

Our bourbon tours are easily personalized. You select which of the 7 major bourbon distilleries you wish to visit! The tour is divided into two main categories, the East Tour and the South Tour:

East Tour:

Choose from Wild Turkey, Woodferd Reserve, Four Roses, or Buffalo Trace Distilleries.

Wild Turkey is a generations old distillery committed to the creation of premium straight Kentucky bourbon whiskey the traditional, old fashioned way. Master Distiller Jimmy Russell continues an age old, traditional method of distilling whiskey and closely scrutinizes every single step himself. True old fashioned whiskey production is in effect here, from the stone ground grain to the hand crafted wooden oak barrels that store bourbon. And at the conclusion of the tour, don't forget to stop by the gift shop!

Woodferd Reserve is one of the older distilleries, established all the way back in 1812. Situated along Glenns Creek, this facility was reopened in 1996 as more of a showpiece, made to educate you on how whiskey was made in the 19th century. Everything is old fashioned, from the copper pot stills to the cypress wood fermenters and tracks to roll the barrels into storage. A tasting is served at the conclusion of the tour.

Four Roses Distillery is designed exclusively to distill Kentucky bourbon down into that magic number that makes Kentucky whiskey so special. Don't let the architecture fool you into thinking this is a winery; this is a bourbon distillery through and through. Your tour will include two of the showpieces of this National Register of Historic Places facility, a 45-foot tall copper beer still and several 16,000 gallon red cypress fermentation tanks.

Buffalo Trace Distillery dates back more than 200 years and is also in the National Registry of Historic Places. It's built over the site of an ancient buffalo migratory path, or buffalo trace, hence this distillery's name. Buffalo Trace is extremely prestigious and has won more international awards in the last decade than any other distillery! A tasting will be served at the end of the tour.

South Tour:

Choose from Maker's Mark, Heaven Hill, or Jim Beam.

As a brand known and loved worldwide, Maker's Mark needs no introduction. Maker's Mark's facilities are age old and situated in a stunning location that could easily grace a postcard. The tour covers several of the beautiful buildings and the lavish grounds. And, of course, a complimentary tasting along with the opportunity to purchase a 375 mL bottle awaits you at the end of the tour. If you purchase the bottle, you get to seal it with the signature red dipping wax as a take home gift.

Heaven Hill is a storage distillery, and that's what this tour focuses on. How do you store so many huge barrels of bourbon for such a long time? Tour the massive warehouse that holds 20,000 barrels in an "open rick" system. A large tasting barrel at the center offers complimentary tastings of an 18-year-old Elijah Craig and Evan Williams Single Barrel bourbon. In addition, you'll get a look at another huge 10,000 square foot heritage facility opened in 2004.

Also a world famous brand and the world's largest distillery, Jim Beam is a must-see on the South end of the Bourbon Trail. You'll get the complete tour of this one of a kind distillery, along with a short movie. And what tour would be complete without a tasting offered at the conclusion? This isn't just any ordinary tasting though. It's one of bourbon made by Beam's seventh generation master distiller.
